Requirements for Legalization of Documents

Prior Authentications required:
1.  Notarization
2.  Authentication of Notary Signature (In most states this may be done directly by the State Secretary of State; if not, the County Clerk authenticates the signature.)
3.  Secretary of State Certification (In states where the Notary Signature may be authenticated directly by the State Secretary of State, steps 2 and 3 are combined.)

Materials to be Submitted with Request:
1.  Original document to be legalized
2.  Photocopy of the document
3.  Prepaid, self-addressed return envelope


Direct Registration of Notary Public: Not available

Direct Signing of Document Before Consular Official:
The procedure of certifying the signature of a private person is available at the Embassy. An appointment should be made and the signer must present identification such as a driver's license.

Turn Around Time:
If the document is personally delivered, it will be legalized within two to four weeks.

Fee:
$15.00 per document.

Payment Method:
Money order or certified check payable to the Embassy of Georgia.

NOTE: We accept no more then ten (10) documents at a time whether delivered by mail or in person.
