    We invite you to our tearoom for a light dinner, tea, and conversation with friends. Note that we do not provide our regular food service menu; however, we do offer you alight “fixed price dinner” of homemade soup, bread and a cup of tea for $5.00 per person served from6 pm to 7pm. We will also offer a seasonal desert prepared by Little Woman’s Kitchen. Note that we stop serving at 7 pm so that our speaker may enjoy our full attention. We look forward to your visit.

    “BREATHE FOR LESS STRESS”
    Would you like to improve your vital health in just 10 minutes a day, for free? Living in this country, we often breathe through our mouths and only in the upper part of our chests, increasing our chances of experiencing stress-related diseases in our bodies. We will discuss breathing techniques that can be used to increase our overall fitness levels. We will explore at least 5 simple breathing techniques for stress reduction and health improvement, particularly as relates to the circulatory and endocrine systems. The role of breath in making each day have more balance will be explored in the context of Ayurvedic daily routines.

     

    “INTRODUCTION TO AYURVEDA: Daily Routines for SLEEP and NOURISHMENT”
    Ayurveda is the science of life, originating in the Asian continent in Indiaabout the same time as Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ayurveda teaches us how to better live in harmony with the seasons of the earth and of our lives, in a very common sense manner. Ayurvedic morning and sleep routines will be discussed. Seasonal eating and eating in line with your body’s constitution will also be explored.

     

    FOUR NUTRIENTS THAT YOUR BODY CRAVES
    American’s diet is unfortunately depleted in 4 crucial nutrients: Essential Fatty Acids, Vitamin D, Magnesium and Selenium. We will discuss why these nutrients need to be added to your diet and how you can get them from food-based sources. Where you may have difficulty (winter in CT and deriving Vit D), we will discuss the most beneficial and cost effective ways for supplementing them into your diet.

     

    GOOD FATS/BAD FATS – YOUR CIRCULATORY HEALTH
    Americans have eaten less saturated fat in the last 30 years than in the rest of the history the country. Your great grandmother probably eat more butter and lard than you do and had a healthier cardiovascular system. In fact, heart attacks were rare until the 1920s when their incidence started to dramatically increase. Some fats are absolutely essential for healthy cells, particularly in the the nervous and circulatory system. We will clarify and simplify the maze of information about fats, so that you can simplify your cooking cabinet and be healthy all year round.

     

    LIFESTYLE APPROACHES TO MINIMIZING DEPRESSION/ANXIETY
    Although anti-depressives can play an important role in making it through a tough time for some, Ayurveda and Western Herbalism offers lifestyle and nutrition tools that you can use can use in addition. Combined with lifestyle and dietary changes, Herbalism also offers suggestions for you to explore ways to manage mild anxiety or depression.
